The Sequoia Odyssey School is a public school.

By law, the famillies of admitted students can be charged no tuition.  Because of this, except for a few teacher selections, admission is awarded on a first come first served basis.

Admission is open to any California resident who wishes to attend.  In the event of a surplus of applicants an independent, outside agency will be utilized to select which of the candidates would benefit from their time at the school.  However, there are certain types of students that the school has been designed to best serve.
  • Children from single, zero or foster parent families
  • Children whose families need to move frequently (>1.5X per year)
  • Children with an incarcerated parent
  • Children who qualify for free lunch programs

Each student who successfully completes an academic year is automatically re-enrolled for the following year, until graduation, regardless of the changing status of thier familly.

Application Process

The Sequoia Odyssey School offers a specialized educational program in a unique setting for students with a vast spectrum of abilities.  As such we require certain information to determine which students would be best served by an education at our school.  In addition to letters of recommedation, a personal essay and a portfloio review each prospective student must be interviewed by either a faculty or staff member.

Student portfolios can consist of:

  • Writing samples
  • Art works
  • Awards
  • Inventions
  • Anything else that shows concrete evidence of the childs accomplishments and abilities
Applications are accepted all year.  We expect the consequences of The Code of Student Conduct will create a predictable number of openings each year.
